According to Scout, Kitsilano is about to be home to a new full-service bar, restaurant and music venue.

Located at 2884 West Broadway in the space previously occupied by Yagger’s Sports Bar, The Painted Ship is the the brainchild of Michael Brennan of Strathcona neighbourhood bar, The Heatley, and Chef Christian Chaumont (Cuchillo/Mount Pleasant Vintage & Provisions), Justin Cameron and Dan Uhrich.

Cameron is the owner of Habitat Coffee Co. and Uhrich is part owner of Mum’s the Word on Commercial Drive with Cameron.

The foursome began gutting the 2,500 square foot space in October, transforming the old sports bar at the corner of Broadway and Macdonald into a community-forward gathering space, complete with a stage.

The name The Painted Ship is borrowed from a late-60s psych-electronic folk rock band, who were a short-lived but popular outfit that played around Kitsilano back in the counterculture heyday of the area.

The Painted Ship is scheduled to open for live music, DJs, dinner and drinks in March of this year.
