The longtime caretaker of Kitsilano’s Tatlow Park was found slain inside his caretaker’s residence on Friday night.

In a prepared statement, a Vancouver park board spokesperson said 77-year-old Justis Daniels had “contributed to the enjoyability of the park each and every day.”

“We are saddened to hear of the passing of Justis Daniels, and to hear his life was cut short in such a senseless way,” the statement read.

Vancouver Police Department spokesperson Const. Tania Visintin said Daniels was found dead around 11am Friday in a home near West 3rd Avenue and Macdonald Street. No arrests have been made.
