The Vancouver Police Department is trying to determine how a stolen truck ended up in the waters off of Kits Beach.

Police were called just after 12:30 this afternoon by a passerby who spotted tire marks in the sand leading into the water off of Kits Beach in the area of the basketball courts.

Officers were able to determine the truck was unoccupied and had been reported stolen early this morning.

The VPD are working with the Vancouver Parks Board and the Coast Guard to arrange for the safe removal of the truck.

Anyone who may have information about the stolen vehicle, a black, 2005 Chevy Silverado, or how it got in the water, is asked to call police at 604-717-3321 or Crime Stoppers at 1-800-222-8477.
