Father’s Day is on Sunday, June 15th this year. So use this weekend to fetch dad some supplies for his favourite past-time: Barbecuing. Whether he’s into char-grilling juicy ribs or flipping some vegan burgers, the following shops in our Kitsilano neighbourhood will surely have what he deserves.

7 Places to Get Great Grill Supplies in Kitsilano

1. Equipment
Barbeques can range from a simple aluminum roasting pan with an open wire grid on top, to one those iconic round Webers or even an outdoor kitchen setup worth more than your car. Most dads are satisfied with the standard sort of grilling apparatus, and those you can find at Gandy’s Home Hardware on 4th. If they don’t have what you’re looking for in store, you can easily order with them online. Find barbeque brushes and solvents here too if dad has just dug out the old Broil King from the garage.

2. Gear
Now that you’ve found the right equipment you’ll need to get some specialty tools to help the griller manipulate the grilled goods. Head over to Call the Kettle Black and Ming Wo, both on West 4th Avenue, for really nice stainless steel barbeque tool sets, servings platters, aprons, napkins, and more.

3. Meat
For carnivores, Greens Organic + Natural Market and Jackson’s Meats both have a wide selection of happy beef, chicken, lamb, pork, and game ready for the grill. Get them already seasoned and marinated or pick up your own spices there too. The friendly and knowledgeable staff behind the counter at either shop can help you out if you have any questions or special requests.

4. Seafood
Looking for fresh BC Spot Prawns, Copper River Sockeye Salmon, or Qualicum Scallops? 7 Seas will have it, when in season, of course. This locally owned chain of seafood shops with Greek roots has been around since the 1960s. Their Kitsilano location was the first to open and they are committed to obtaining and selling sustainable seafood.

5. Veggies
Visit the Kitsilano Farmers Market every Sunday from 10am-2pm to pick up fresh, artisanal, hyper-local, organic, hand-harvested, wind-powered, carbon neutral, and delivered by bicycle (ok, maybe not that last one…) accompaniments for the barbeque dinner. Choose from red, green, and yellow peppers, mushrooms, zucchini, garlic scapes, and so much more. Find desserts for dad here too!
