Summer came early to Vancouver this year, with the dreaded sporadic days of rain growing fewer and farther between earlier than expected. That means it’s time to stock up on some summertime style picks, and Kits has a bunch of great spots to grab all the essentials.
5 Must-Have Summer Style Picks from Kits Boutiques
1. Clothing from The Latest Scoop
The Latest Scoop has popped up on the corner of 4th and Maple for a limited time only, and this is the place to be if you’re filling in the gaps of a summer wardrobe. The shop itself is like a museum; with large windows, grand displays, and one-of-a-kind pieces, I meander in on an almost daily basis just to wallow in the splendor. That’s not to say that the clothing doesn’t tempt me though. With every colour of the rainbow on display in sequin shorts, flowy dresses, statement necklaces, and more, you’ll find yourself overcome with a lust for new stuff. It’s the perfect place to pick up your defining piece of the season.

2. Beach Towel from Urban Outfitters
Urban Outfitters on 4th Ave has everything you need for your music festival adventures and beach days this season. From crochet tops to animal print shorts and everything in between, the Kits girl can find whatever her boho heart desires. My number one summer purchase at Urban Outfitters is one of their large and colourful beach towels. Sporting messages like “I love summer” and “Get’n my bronze on” atop tie-dye backdrops, they make a statement that will put all the eyes on you.

3. Beach Bag from Plenty
Plenty has a great collection of accessories, including sunglasses, shoes, and hats. But this is always my first stop when I’m in the market for a new wallet or bag. With an assortment of Matt & Nat, Colab, and Street Style to choose from, I’m like a kid in a candy shop. Right now, I can’t get enough Herschel, and the Herschel Strand Duffel Bag is perfect for the beach. With outside pockets, a large zippered compartment, and sturdy handles, it fits all my beach essentials and looks adorable at the same time.

4. Beach Hat from Exposure
It took me a while to jump on the hat bandwagon, but now that I’m here I’m ready to embrace it. My favourite spot to browse and try on hats is at Exposure on 4th. They have a range of fedoras and floppy sun hats in all shapes, sizes, and colours, so you’re sure to find the perfect one for you. But be prepared to get distracted by all the beautiful maxi skirts and patterned sundresses while you’re in there.

5. Sandals from Miz Mooz
One of my favourite shops in the neighbourhood, Miz Mooz never fails to impress me with their bold and fresh collections each season. My pick this time around is the Yacht sandal. With a wrapped leather strap design at the toe, a wide ankle strap, and a chunky wedge heel, it’s the ideal summer shoe. It can go from day to night in comfort, and be paired with a dress, shorts, or jeans. What more can you ask for?
