I have always loved the fact that West 4th was home to a both a rain boot store and a flip flop shop. Classic Kitsilano! As a seasonal business, I never thought the cute Gumdrops store would survive its first year, but they did.
To an outsider, they seemed to be operating a great business, but apparently this was not the case as the store has closed suddenly due to rent distress. The remaining stock is set to be auctioned off by Maynards at a date not yet determined.
It’s always sad to see an independent biz in the neighbourhood close. Not to mention, Kits residents are going to have a much harder time finding stylish wellies this winter.
