Breakfast This Weekend?

It’s been 2 ½ years since a post here appeared telling you about The Sunshine Diner at 2649 West Broadway. So, as a fresh new writer here on the beat at, I decided it was time again to put in a shameless plug for this Kits classic and bow in awe to what I consider to be……… the best breakfast in Kits. It’s not over priced or over spiced.

This 1950’s style diner has simply, got it goin’ on. The décor is done up right with a ton of 50’s memorabilia and stuff from a few other decades gone by, as well. I usually hear the Beatles while I’m there, which does contradict the 50’s theme, but who cares…….. the food & Beatles are just too good for me to whine. Who’d listen to a whiner anyway on a relaxing weekend morning?

Every Saturday morning, I journey to The Sunshine Diner to get my fix. I see the regulars, and wonder if they think I’m regular? I see kids, they love the coloring books! I see the guy and girl with Saturday morning bed-head, someone didn’t make it home last night and is dressed pretty well for breakfast! As I finish up my morning masterpiece, I pay and head out walking past the people waiting and wonder…….. do they look forward to their weekend breakfast as much as I do? I’ve tried all the others and this is the place. I figure……why reinvent the wheel, if it ain’t broken don’t fix it.

I used to *adore* the Sunshine Diner – but now I have the Nice Cafe (granted, I now live on Main!) – but it’s a great breakfast spot.
