One down, three to go

The Centennial Centaurs were no match for the tournament No. 1-seeded Kitsilano Blue Demons, who lived up to their lofty status by racing to a 90-51 victory last night and advancing to today’s quarter-final round. Dan Stinson is providing some great coverage in the Vancouver Sun for those of you that can’t make it out to the games.

Niko Cochran, Kits’ quick and talented point guard, led the way with a inspiring game-high 30 points, which included 19 points in the first half when Demons’ starting post Paul Woodham was whistled for two early fouls. Woodham fouled out with 6:26 remaining in the fourth quarter after scoring just six points, making Cochran’s production all the more important for the Demons. Cochran was 11-for-11 from the field, 3-for-3 on three-point shots, and 5-for-5 from the free throw line. He added five steals, forced five turnovers and made four assists in a superb all-round effort.

Holy Crap Niko! One down, three to go. Next up is Maple Ridge at 4:45pm today.
