Nomad Coffee is opening a new eco-friendly café in Kitsilano on Saturday, March 14 — and the launch comes with free coffee for early visitors.

The first 200 guests who bring their own reusable cup will receive a complimentary drink of their choice during the opening morning.

The café takes over the former Helen’s Grocery space at 2143 Yew Street, a longtime neighbourhood fixture many locals will recognize.

Originally launched in North Vancouver in 2022, Nomad built a following around its bring-your-own-cup model designed to reduce single-use waste. The company says the initiative has already kept tens of thousands of disposable cups out of landfills.

The Kitsilano location will offer specialty coffee, house-made pastries, and a welcoming community-focused interior built around sustainability.

With its emphasis on reusables and independent ownership, Nomad fits naturally into Kitsilano’s culture of walkable mornings, beach-bound coffee runs, and environmentally minded local businesses.
