In the heart of Vancouver’s Vanier Park at the H.R. MacMillan Space Centre sits a groundbreaking new venue that’s redefining immersive entertainment: The Dome Vancouver. This spherical theatre – the city’s first and only full-dome immersive space – surrounds audiences with powerful visuals, sound and atmosphere that extend far beyond a traditional screen.
Stepping inside The Dome feels like entering another world. The venue combines six Christie 4K cinema projectors to create seamless panoramic visuals in ultra-crisp 10K resolution with more than 100 million pixels enveloping every direction. With 150,000 lumens of brightness and a full-dome laser system, every show becomes an extraordinary visual journey.
It’s not just about sight — the audio experience is equally powerful. The Dome features 20,000 watts of Dolby Atmos surround sound engineered to immerse audiences in sound that flows all around them. Whether it’s ambient cosmic music, the thunder of waves, or the pulse of rock, the sound is designed to make you feel like you’re inside the performance itself.
What makes The Dome special is its diverse lineup of immersive experiences. These shows blend music, science, nature, art and storytelling into a series of unique productions, all projected across the vast spherical surface.
Some of the current experiences include:
Pink Floyd: The Dark Side of the Moon – 50th Anniversary Experience – This immersive show presents Pink Floyd’s iconic album in full 360° with Dolby Atmos sound, lasers, and panoramic visuals developed in collaboration with the band’s creative director.
Blue Whales: Return of the Giants with Andy Serkis, a breathtaking journey through the lives of Earth’s largest animals presented life-size on the dome.
Pedro Pascal: Encounters in the Milky Way, a cosmic exploration narrated by the actor as you travel through billions of years of stellar evolution.
Other features on the roster include sci-fi anthology shorts, immersive music experiences and special seasonal productions that make The Dome a destination for all ages.
The Dome Vancouver isn’t just a venue — it’s an experience that pushes the boundaries of what entertainment can be, inviting audiences to lose themselves in worlds of sound and light.
