Nomad Coffee is officially bringing its eco-friendly café to Kitsilano this month. After building a strong local following in North Vancouver with its sustainability-focused model, Nomad is preparing to open its second Vancouver location in Kitsilano this February.
The new café will be located at 2143 Yew Street, in the former home of Helen’s Grocery — a longtime community fixture — and is expected to carry over the same Bring Your Own Cup (BYOC) ethos that the brand is known for.
At Nomad, customers are encouraged to bring reusable cups, mugs, or tumblers to help reduce single-use waste. That’s been a core part of the concept since the original North Vancouver outpost launched in 2022, where the BYOC initiative has helped keep tens of thousands of disposable cups out of landfills.
To celebrate the Kitsilano launch, Nomad plans a grand opening special where the first customers who bring their own cup can enjoy a free drink — a nice bonus for early visitors and sustainability supporters.
While the exact opening date hasn’t been confirmed publicly yet, the team says it’s arriving “this February,” with more details expected to be shared on Nomad’s social channels soon.
Locals can likely expect a café experience similar to their North Vancouver location: a curated menu of specialty coffee, house-made pastries, and an inviting space that’s designed around community and sustainability.
The arrival of Nomad adds to Kitsilano’s growing roster of neighbourhood cafés and aligns with the community’s appetite for independent, locally minded spots that also deliver on ethics and quality.
