One of Kits Point’s best-kept secrets is opening its doors this month. On Sunday, September 21st, the Billy Bishop / Kerrisdale Legion will host an open house from 10am to 3pm, inviting the community to explore the Kits Point Military History Museum.
Tucked inside the Legion Branch, the museum spans two floors filled with memorabilia and features the largest plaque collection in Canada. Visitors can learn about Canadian aviation heroes like Billy Bishop and Buzz Beurling, along with countless other stories preserved in artifacts and displays.
Guests can also discover the history of the Legion Branch itself, which has been part of the neighbourhood since 1926, and learn about the values that continue to guide its mission today. Guided tours will bring the museum’s artifacts to life, while displays from local charities—including service dog demonstrations—will highlight the Legion’s ongoing community contributions.
The event will also feature free snacks, refreshments, and family-friendly contests such as “Find the Plaque” and “Name the Plane,” with prizes to be won.
The open house takes place at the Billy Bishop / Kerrisdale Legion, 1407 Laburnum Street in Kits Point. All are welcome.
