The Kitsilano Pool will open on Victoria Day long weekend this year.
This is very welcome news as of last December parks board heard that Vancouver’s treasured Kitsilano pool was leaking 30,000 litres of water every hour, calling into question the future of the iconic pool.
On Monday night, Vancouver Park Board received a positive update from staff about the troubled pool and the fire-damaged showboat
Monday’s staff update reported that extensive investigation had determined two crushed pipes and failing expansion joints were largely responsible for the loss of water and that the pool could remain open until more work is done in the fall.
