Edmonton-born leather footwear and accessories company Poppy Barley has arrived in Vancouver and their first store is in Kitsilano.

Located at 2144 West 4th Avenue, the brand’s new 1,200-square-foot retail space in the city will offer a full selection of footwear and accessories.

As a certified B Corporation, Poppy Barley is rethinking the fashion industry to make it better for the planet, one sustainably-made shoe and accessory at a time.

Founded by sisters Justine and Kendall Barber in 2012 as an e-commerce business, the new Kitsilano location is their third store in Canada. The brand’s unusual name has historical significance – poppy seeds and barley corns were the original unit of measurement in shoemaking.

“For the first time, Vancouver is able to shop Poppy Barley’s full collection in-person,” Justine Barber, co-founder of the brand, says. “After 8-plus years of Vancouver pop-up shops and a year-long search for space, we found our permanent home. The West 4th community is perfect for us. It’s where a community gathers to socialize, work and live. It’s a dream location for Poppy Barley.”
