Just in time for Fall, Kits Beach Beer is launching a Dark Lager. The Mexican-style lager, reminiscent of a Modelo Negra or a Dos XX Amber features a hint of citrus hops and a dark roasted specialty malt giving it an espresso and chocolate aroma.

Founded by James Boileau, Andrew Lavigne, and Dana Barnaby, Kits Beach Beer started as a Covid side hustle for Boileau, a business consultant, Lavigne, a documentary filmmaker and Barnaby, a film Director/DP, and has already beat initial sales projections.

When the original Kits Beach Beer, crisp, clean, lightly hopped Golden Ale with hints of citrus, began selling out, the team had to quickly brew an additional 30% more of their flagship beer.

“It has certainly been an exciting journey for us”, says Boileau. It was an incredibly busy summer but we definitely had a learning curve. We discovered very quickly that our beer works best in four packs, a perfect amount for take out and sharing with friends. We also learned that the best season for a beach beer company is the summer and as soon as the leaves start to fall, so do beer sales. That’s why it is so important to be continuously developing new products and packaging.”

Next spring Kits Beach Beer will be releasing a Grapefruit Pale Ale and begin offering multi-packs of the three beers. The trio is also actively looking for a location near Kits Beach or West 4th to build a tap room restaurant.

You can get Kits Beach Beer at Kitsilano Liquor Store and Bimini’s Liquor Store locally and its currently being served at Tacofino Kits, Regal Beagle Bar & Grill, Local, The Ellis and Colony Kits.

Kits Beach Beer can also be purchased online and delivery within Kits is free.
