Kitsilano’s Cacao restaurant has officially closed after nearly three years at 1898 West 1st Avenue.
Bryn Skibo-Birney profiled the ‘progressive latin’ eatery in January with her Where We’re Eating column on Kitsilano.ca.
Scout Magazine’s Andrew Morrison broke the news after Cacao co-owner/chef Jefferson Alvarez reached out to him with the restaurant update.
In short, a water leak closed the during the busiest season of the year and Alvarez had no certainty as to when they would be able to re-open. Four weeks later when the repairs were complete, the financial damage was already done.
