Forget all that Black Friday madness, and hang out at a fun, local event this weekend in and around Kitsilano. From music to theatre and a little art, it will be a mellow Fri-Sun with a bit of early holiday cheer mixed in.

Friday, November 24th

Come and listen to the talented alternative-rock-pop star Don McGlashan, a New Zealand composer, singer, and multi-instrumentalist, for his solo performance at the St. James Hall on West 10th Avenue. Doors open at 7pm and the show starts at 8pm. Tickets are $25

Saturday, November 25th

Take the kids to a theatrical production of The Lion, The Witch and the Wardrobe – a mythical winter story, at The Waterfront Theatre on Granville Island. The show runs from November 25th till December 31st, with today’s first preview showing at 3pm. Best for kids ages 5 and up.

The Dunbar Community Centre is hosting its Holiday Craft Fair today, from 10 till 5 and tickets are just $5 at the door (kids 12 and under are free). This fair will feature over 140 vendors selling local holiday crafts and treats, including candles, soaps, ceramics, truffles, preserves, jewellery, honey products, and fine art.

Sunday, November 26th

The Creative Neighbours Salon is presenting Gift of Art, from 6pm till 9pm at David Eby MLA’s Community Office on West Broadway, matching local artwork (from the Artists in Our Midst group) with your holiday gift recipients. It will include an artist’s talk and a potluck from 6pm till 7pm. This workshop is free but registration is required.
