What to do this weekend in Kits

EventsFamilyNews

Besides strolling through our lovely blooming neighbourhood, umbrella in hand, reusable coffee mug in the other, we’ve got a few ideas for what to do this Thursday, Friday, and Saturday. Here’s what’s on this weekend in Kitsilano.

Watch – Thursday, February 25th

The Vancouver-filmed movie Deadpool is still showing at Fifth Avenue Cinemas. Beat some of the weekend crowds by going on Thursday. Besides dominating the box office sales, Deadpool’s leading actor is Vancouver’s funny and handsome Ryan Reynolds, and plenty of our fair city’s iconic landmarks are shown in the movie too.

Eat – Friday, February 26th

Having just opened it’s second location (the first one is located on East Hastings), the Mr. Red Cafe on West Broadway near Stephens Street (in the former Golden Aura location) is tempting the Kitsilano crowd with its authentic northern Vietnamese cuisine. Owners Rose & Hong Nguyen, who are both from Vietnam, know how to prepare proper Hanoi street food using their coveted heirloom recipes. Come and welcome the Nguyens to our neighbourhood and try their amazing pho, banh mi, and other savoury and sweet dishes, if you haven’t already.

Listen – Saturday, February 27th

Enjoy some fabulous jazz at the St Mark’s Anglican Church on Larch Street and West 2nd as Müzewest presents Jodi Proznick & Triology. Award winning Jodi Proznick will be playing bass, Miles Black the piano, and Bill Coon the guitar. The show starts at 7:30pm and is until 9:30pm. Tickets are still available ($30 for adults with concessions available for students, seniors, etc.) and can be purchased through Müzewest.
