Another heatwave is coming for us here on the West Coast this weekend. Thankfully there are plenty of ways to stay cool in the Kitsilano neighbourhood. From outdoor pools to icy treats and breezy patios, here is our list of 5 ways to stay cool this weekend.

5 Ways to Stay Cool this Weekend in Kitsilano

1. Swim or Splash
Folks will definitely be flocking to the Kitsilano Pool this weekend, where all ages can enjoy the heated, salt water outdoor pool. Luckily it opens early at 7am and closes late at 8:45pm. Drop-in fee for adults is just $5.76 plus tax.

2. Spray the Kids
Connaught Park at the Kitsilano Community Centre has a lovely spray water park next to the large playground. There is lots of shade available too, perfect for a picnic. The park is free and open daily.

3. Scream for Ice Cream
What better way to cool off than with a sweet frozen treat? Get yours at Kitsilano’s favourite ice cream shop, Rain or Shine. Don’t miss their newest flavours, Cherry Chocolate Chunk, Strawberry Mint Sorbet, and Strawberry Jam Swirl, all made with fresh local berries.

4. Swoop a Patio Spot
Kitsilano has no shortage of eateries with fabulous patios. You can choose from beachside seating to people-watching hotspots to leafy courtyards and rooftops. Here’s our list of the 5 best patios in Kitsilano from last year if you need some help. Make sure to include a tall ice-cube-topped drink.

5. Sit Easy
If it really gets as hot as the forecast says (29c or more), perhaps you may want to head indoors, preferably an air-conditioned indoors like Fifth Avenue Cinemas. On the weekends they offer afternoon matinees. The popcorn is pretty darn good too.
