Greens Organic & Natural Market in Kitsilano recently welcomed Indigo Food Café, which opened inside their store, right next to the deli. Indigo, a locally owned restaurant operated by Lovena Galyide, was outgrowing its location on West 16th. The new the grocery store on Broadway means more room for storage and production, plus Indigo can benefit from the access to Greens’ local farm suppliers.

Indigo’s food is all organic, gluten-free, diabetic-friendly, raw, and vegan. So it ticks all the health boxes. Their food is also satisfyingly rich and full of flavour, and did I mention healthy? Indigo’s former menu has expanded with the move, and now features cold-pressed juices & shots (with grasses and sprouts grown on site), super smoothies, various nut milks (hazelnut, almond, and Brazil nut), coconut drinks, and some hot drinks too. Their gorgeous and luxurious raw food desserts, for which Indigo is well known for, are thankfully still available, including the very berry cheesecake and the lush coconut cream pie.

If you’re more in the mood for savoury options, then check out Indigo’s daily lunch and dinner selections which can include on-trend fermented products like cabbage rolls and cheese platters, or soups, pizzas, a variety of salads, and snacks such as crunchy kale chips and sesame & onion crackers.

Founded by two UBC alumni, Greens is a locally owned and operated business as well and prides itself on offering BC products that are organically and sustainably grown. Besides the new café, they also have a fabulous butcher, super friendly staff, and a loyalty program that easily adds up to a free lunch or useful gift certificates. Additionally, Greens has a Customer Appreciation Day and a Student Day each month where most items are at a 10% discount.

You know it is just the same in any other field.
You’d think experience showes us at least anything, but that’s so rare.
Disagree if you will but the world changes rapidly, and we have no control over it.
For instance, If only Obama had any balls to put Russian bear to his place, but it seems like it’s never happening, welcome world war.
    A very deep post, thanks!
