Kitsilano’s newest boutique, Two of Hearts, holds Kits shoppers in high esteem. “They’re people who are socially conscious. Not just into the brands but it’s more of a lifestyle thing here, supporting local businesses and the local economy,” says co-owner and co-designer Jenny Yen.
The other heart in Two of Hearts is Tabitha Savoie, who explains that the duo chose Kitsilano for their second location (1986 W. 4th Avenue) because they noticed Kitsilano shoppers making the trek over to their original store (3728 Main Street) in droves.
(Don’t miss images from the VIP Night and Fashion Show after the jump.)
The essence of Two of Hearts appears to be just one word: local. Canadian-made designs dominate the racks of beautiful clothing, shelves of funky accessories, and cases of unique jewelry. The staff help you piece your best self together with that effortless nature of an old friend. Or, if you prefer to peruse the racks solo, that’s just fine here. Jenny or Tabitha are often hanging around the store to explain the science of a print-screen shirt, or the inspiration behind that little black dress dress.
The main house brand, Cici, is designed by Jenny who also handles behind-the-scenes production. Tabitha’s line, Savvy, peppers the shelves while she keeps things rolling in-store. “We compliment each other well,” says Tabitha. Jenny agrees; “We make a good team. Ying and yang.”
Jenny and Tabitha are both effortlessly stylish, and were cool as cucumbers at their recent VIP Night and Fashion Show . Two of Hearts was packed and the bass was pumping as long-time customers proudly walked (strutted, I should say) wearing Two of Heart’s latest and greatest merchandise down the catwalk.
Two of Hearts means two fantastic Canadian designers/entrepreneurs, plus hundreds of outfits ready to be worn around Kitsilano. Pop into the boutique and see for yourself!
