Nicole Bridger: Highlights from the Spring/Summer 2013 In-Store Fashion Show

Nicole Bridger, explaining the concept behind her Spring and Summer 2013 collection ‘BE’.

Things conducive to getting ready for a fashion show: Matte rouge lipstick, favourite black blazer, and a pair of fun pumps. Check, check, and check.

Things not conducive to getting ready for a fashion show: Rain.

Fortunately, the chic, delicate and feminine concept of Nicole Bridger’s Spring/Summer 2013 collection ‘BE’  was an exciting reminder that we are not too far off from those sunny West Coast days we all love. With a little taming of my frizz-prone hair and a glass of rosé later, I was ready to get the scoop on her in-store fashion show held at her Kitsilano flagship at 2151 West 4th Avenue  on Wednesday evening.

Bridger’s designs appeal to the modern woman – a woman who can look effortlessly stylish without compromising functionality. Fittingly, then, this collection is entitled ‘BE’, which embodies the value of staying true to yourself and beliefs, even when facing challenges or fears.

The neutral colour palette (including light grey-blues, corals, beiges, and olive greens) and flattering silhouettes in the Spring/Summer 2013 collection translate into some definite wardrobe staples. Each piece can either be dressed up with your favourite pair of heels, or relaxed down with a pair of flip flops (or even bare feet)! The clothes themselves are incredibly soft to touch, made of fabrics that are sustainably-sourced, and are manufactured right here in Vancouver. The price points, $50-$400, reflect the designer’s commitment to the environment and fair wages.

Best of all, real women – close friends of Nicole – modeled the collection, sharing their incredible backgrounds and experiences with the crowd of fashion bloggers. With their smiles and confidence lighting up the runway, the Nicole Bridger Spring and Summer 2013 fashion show was an intimate evening filled with inspiration, genuine conversations, and warm, hearty applause.

Here are some photo highlights from Wednesday’s event:

I love Nicole Bridger’s clothes. I have a goddess skirt, and yup! I feel like a goddess when I wear it – a subtle, relaxed, comfortable goddess!
