Halloween treats for the mature palate

Xoxolat pumpkin truffles

I’m too old to trick-or-treat. But that doesn’t stop me from searching out adult-friendly chocs and seasonal treats. I dropped by Xoxolat (2391 Burrard St.) to pick up their seasonal pumpkin spice truffles. This hand-panted treat (pictured above) has a decadent dark chocolate shell with pumpkin filling for $1.50 each. I’d give them three out of five stars – the chocolate is high quality, and the treat is pretty, for sure, but I’d like more pumpkin flavour and the dark chocolate dominates.

Novo’s pumpkin cheese cake.

At dinner at Novo Pizzeria and Wine Bar (2118 Burrard Street) last night, however, I shared a slice of house-made pumpkin cheese cake with a friend, and have to commend the chef on the pumpkin punch.

Thomas Haas chocolate jack-o’-lanterns

Thomas Haas (2539 West Broadway) has chocolate jack-o’-lanterns in store now. I haven’t had a chance to try them, but they’re awfully festive.
