Parking rates rise at Kitsilano Beach Park and Jericho Beach

The Province reports that parking rates are on the rise in Vancouver parks, starting October 1. For Kits residents, the two changes that will affect your wallet are the parking price hikes at Kits Beach and Jericho Beach.

As reported by The Province:

The cost of hourly parking in Stanley Park, Queen Elizabeth Park and Kitsilano Park from October 1 to March 31 doubles to an hourly rate of $2. The same $2 used to buy two hours of parking.

The rationale, according to a staff report to the Vancouver Park Board, is “to reduce confusion” because short-term parking was previously two-hour blocks of time in the low season and one-hour blocks during the summer.

Another big jump is at Jericho Beach, where the daily rate is increasing by 67 per cent from $6 to $10.
