Persia Foods has recently taken over Tim’s Produce at West Broadway/MacDonald providing Kits residents with quality, often local produce and some exotic harder to find items at arguably the best prices in the ‘hood.

For example, on my last trip I picked up 10 limes for $1 and local tomatoes for 0.69/lb. Not bad! Kitsilano is the fourth Persia Foods location in the Lower Mainland and if it is as reliable as the other locations, I will be spending a lot of time there.

Like many Kitsilano residents, I used to regularly make the trek down to Young Brothers to pick up discount produce. While the prices at Young Brothers are definitely good, it is no secret that they only accept cash and the place isn’t exactly spotless. Combine these issues with the fact maneuvering a stroller around the place is an Olympic sport, saving a few bucks just wasn’t usually worth it anymore.

Luckily Persia Foods solves these issues for me. They take all forms of payment, are the cleanest of all the produce stores I have visited in the neighbourhood, have exceptional prices and excellent customer service.

To offer a more useful blog post I compared prices of 10 items between Persia Foods and Young Brothers today. The result: they came out pretty much exactly the same. I suspect there will be price matching between the stores, at least for now.

Secret’s out! Actually, the produce is in many cases cheaper than Young Brothers; but what makes them stand out is that they have a lot of other items, dry goods, at way cheaper prices than anywhere else. Excellent customer service, bright & clean atmosphere, unlike the sketchiness & dankness of Young Brothers.

    Hi Janelle & Mary,

This is Sobbuh from Persia Foods — a customer let one of our cashiers know about this blog post (I guess word travels quickly) and I just wanted to thank you for the positive reviews. It means a lot to hear that people are happy with our store. We have felt so welcomed by everyone in the neighbourhood — it really helps us get through the long work days.

We’re still a work in progress, but hopefully we can make everyone’s day, or at least their grocery shopping experience, a little bit better.

As always, if there’s any way we can better serve you (by bringing in new products or by changing the way we do things) we’d love to hear from you (or anyone else).

Also, make sure to say hi the next time you’re in! I’d like to put a face to your names.

If you’re at all interested the Turkish Rose Petal Jam they sell is outstanding-and the Dates they have are the biggest juiciest I’ve ever eaten!

Can somebody please post the hours of this lovely store and also its correct phone number? The phone number currently listed on Yelp is incorrect and there is no information about the Kits store on the Persia website. Thanks!

North side of Broadway west of McDonald-the old Tim’s location.

I seriously doubt they have time to answer the telephone.
