Hot spell makes headlines

Good weather doesn’t often make headlines, except when it’s preceded by one of the most disagreeable Junes on record.

The Province reports that Kits Beach is packed with cheerful swimmers, sunbathers, picnickers and athletes. I walk by twice a day and I’ll corroborate: Vancouverites are out in full force. You can read their optimistic “hot spell” coverage here. They’re predicting sunny days through the end of the week.

Kits Beach is accustomed to being the centre of attention. Forbes Traveler describes summer at Kits Beach as: “a  hedonistic frenzy … when the July and August sun heats this intoxicating nexus of sea, forest and mountains.”

The magazine ranks our neighbourhood waterfront stretch in the same league as South Beach in Miami, Laguna Beach in Orange County and Ka’anapali Beach in Maui.
