As a lover of great bread, I always cringe when I see someone at the grocery store toss a loaf of Dempsters or Wonder Bread into their cart. With so many great bakeries in Kits, there is no reason to eat a squishy loaf of bread that has traveled thousands of miles to your plate and tastes average at best.
Lucky for us eating quality, fresh-baked, crusty bread in Kits just got even easier. After 30 years of business in the Commercial Drive neighbourhood, Uprising Breads has opened the doors at their new West Broadway & Balaclava location. Breads on offer include crusty Cracked Wheat & Sunflower, Finnish Loaf, Honey & Buttermilk and more. They also serve sandwiches, scones, muffins, a killer double choc cookie and other sweets. What can we say except: Welcome to the neighbourhood!
P.S. They are now accepting pumpkin pie orders for Thanksgiving.
