Well, not so new anymore. A few months ago I noticed that Wear Else (their Kitsilano store is at 2360 West 4th @ Balsam) had undergone a substantial metamorphosis.
What used to be a fairly ugly and tired looking store came out of its cocoon looking classy and clean.
Take the logo for instance. Below is a rather poor image of the old storefront at Oakridge with that hideous coat hanger logo. The image at the top of the post is the new, clean and simple looking logo.
And the changes extend beyond just the logo and look:
Wear Else has been a Vancouver fashion institution since 1977; however, in October 2007 the company was acquired by Zahra Mamdani and her family with a mission to inject new vitality into the brand. If you haven’t been in the stores in a while, it’s definitely worth making the trip. You’ll be surprised by all the fabulous new lines we offer.
The stores have been stripped of much of the clutter that used to be present. And as the above quote suggests they have added some new lines, such as one of my wife’s favourite brands Bruuns Bazaar and a much more extended in-house line called We Select.
