Family Practice Opening on Broadway

When we first arrived, we lucked out and found a great family doctor right off the bat. However, we know all too well how difficult it can be to find a good doctor that will take new patients. Well, newcomers to Kits appear in luck. The former location of Donna Hutton Flowers (2533 West Broadway @ Larch) is in the midst of being transformed into the medical practice of Dr. H.N. James.

A bit of internet searching reveals that Dr. James used to work at the West Boulevard Medical Centre in Kerrisdale. Comments on RateMDs.com not only confirm this, but also suggest that he is a good doctor, and I imagine his practice will fill up soon (although RateMDs has to be taken with a grain of salt; our doctor gets a very mediocre rating, primarily due to disgruntled drop-in patients).

The sign behind the window doesn’t list a phone number, and a 411 search still lists the West Boulevard information. I’ll try to update this post as soon as I see that the practice has opened.

[UPDATE Nov 29:]Noticed that the practice is finally open. Still no phone number on the sign though.

I heard that Dr James was a good family doctor so I made an appt for myself, my wife and our 7 week old daughter. The secretary didn’t bother telling me they had a new address so I went to the old one on West Blvd. It’s no fun dragging a baby around Vancouver looking for an address that no longer exists.
I’m sure he is a great doctor but his staff are incompetent so I will continue looking for a family doctor in the Kitsilano area.
It doesn’t matter how good a doctor is if his secretary doesn’t have any common sense.
