Looking for something to do this Saturday? Here are two events close to Kits that look like fun:
Evergreen is hosting Evergreen’s 8th Annual Earth Day Vancouver Celebration from 11am to 5pm at Jericho Beach Park. Join in for “a day of celebration, restoration, and hands-on participation.” There’s music, a Pedal-Powered Puppet Stage (you can sign up for a 10 minutes slot to help power the sound), nature tours, activities for kids, you can help the Jericho Stewardship Group rooting out invasive species, and if you bring your own mug, Starbucks will fill it for free.
If you are looking for something a little less hands-on, consider going to the opposite border of Kits and visit the 10th annual Ocean Construction Supplies – those of the shiny blue concrete mixers – open house on Granville Island (9am to 5pm).
There will be interactive displays, prizes, and tours. Learn about the many uses of concrete, see the history of the Granville Island location with vintage trucks and photographs, and find out why Ocean is the industry leader in environmental accomplishments.
