Feenie’s in Trouble?

1885

Feenie'sWith the Feenie watch over, a new watch appears to be taking its place: the Feenie’s watch.

Urban Diner reports that chef John Corsi has left, and word on the street (i.e. the UD Forum) has it that most of the staff are looking for work. Is Feenie’s about to close? Are people simply leaving out of loyalty to Rob Feenie?

I haven’t been back to Feenie’s since the November crisis, and for some reason the place looks emptier every time I walk by. Although this is probably just my own confirmation-bias speaking, something is definitely afoot.

  1. Just to set you right, they aren’t about to close and they haven’t lost “most” of their staff. Staff retention might be an issue right now, which is understandable considering the upheaval, but conclusions shouldn’t be jumped to just yet.

Fair enough. The forum quote is fairly ambiguous as to what the “prickly circumstances” might be though. That, combined with the “Deathwatch” title and the picture of the Hindenburg might have had me jumping to conclusions 🙂

  3. I reserve the right to jump to my own conclusions, my dear. 😉

  4. My loyalty is with Rob Feenie. As well as being a talented chef he is a great person. He will make the best of this and alight triumphant!!! Of that I am sure.

    These are all good hunches:
I went in a week or so ago and it feels, looks, and smells like death in there.

I just haven’t been able to go back since Rob was forced out. It feels like an insult to his name. Happily, my last meal there was superb, so I leave it with a good memory. Sounds like it’s on the way out, but I’m grateful to Rob for practically defining a new dining experience in Vancouver.
