Turkish Jeans Giant coming to Kits

2004

Craftworks recently moved a block west along 4th (from 2112 to 2208) and their old spot will be the newest location for Turkish jeans giant Mavi. While this is most certainly not another Reitmans (343 stores across Canada),  it is also most certainly not another Ironhead.

Founded in Istanbul in 1991, Mavi Jeans designs a full collection of
jeanswear, for young women and men. Mavi sells 7,000,000 pairs of jeans
a year and is now sold at over, 4,600 specialty stores, better
department stores and specialty chains stores […] There are 15 mavi showrooms worldwide

One of these 15 "showrooms" is actually in Yaletown, so this will be Vancouver’s second Mavi store.

Does the picture look familiar? It’s by Oliviero Toscani, the guy behind the Benetton campaigns in the 80s and 90s.

  1. The Mavi store in Yaletown is said to be on its way out to make room for an Earls Restaurant. I assume this is the relocation.

That makes a lot of sense (the relocation of Mavi that is, perhaps not so much Earls in Yaletown). Thanks for the added information Andrew.

  3. Erik says:

I just noticed another “Mavi – coming soon” announcement on Water Street (Gastown). I guess it’s more than just a relocation, they are actually expanding in Vancouver.

I think the best place for denim in Vancouver is at Brooklyn in Yaletown. Excellent service and selection.

I’ll be interested to see what Craftworks looks like…

  5. Matt says:

Earl’s is moving into their old Yaletown location.
