The Best Fish & Chips in Vancouver

2091

If you didn’t heed our advice last year, be sure check out Go Fish this summer. Fish & Chips are not my favorite meal and it would be a serious stretch for me to pick ’em off any menu, but I gotta say they are AWESOME at Go Fish. I went there last weekend and the 15 minute wait was well worth it. Have the two-piece Halibut meal with fries and you will thank me. If you don’t trust me, check out the review on Vitamin V on Friday:

Remember when beach food consisted of rubbery hot dogs from the Kits concession stand? Well, how about an order of peel-and-eat jumbo B.C. spot prawns with herb garlic sauce, instead?

That’s just one of the new menu items at Go Fish, the coolest little fish shack this side of Sao Paulo. The menu is determined by what’s fresh on the boats at Fisherman’s Warf below. Cross your fingers it’s the day they’re dishing up Emperor Scallop burgers with butter lettuce, lime mayo and crispy onion ring, or finger-licking BBQ oyster tacones.

With menu items maxing out at $10, it’s the perfect weekend lunch spot, followed by a stroll down the seawall. And if you cave and buy a Revello at Kits beach for dessert, well so be it.

Go Fish summer hours: 11:30 a.m.-6:30 p.m., Tuesday-Sunday. 1505 W. First Ave (at Fisherman’s Warf on the seawall), 604-730-5040. No reservations.

I hate to differ with your esteemed opinion here, but Go Fish is Vancouver’s #2 Fish and Chips locale. It is the best in Kits, but to my taste, not the best in the GVRD.

To find the #1 you have to cross the water to the north shore, the Dollarton Highway, to find the Crab Shop. More?
