Kitsilano residents have one more week to enjoy one of Vancouver’s most iconic swimming spots before it closes for the season.
Kitsilano Pool will remain open through Sunday, September 13, outlasting most of Vancouver’s other seasonal outdoor pools.
From September 8 to 13, the pool will offer three daily swimming sessions:
- 7:00 a.m. to 10:30 a.m.
- 11:00 a.m. to 2:30 p.m.
- 3:00 p.m. to 7:00 p.m.
The Vancouver Park Board notes that there will be no dedicated length-swimming sessions during the final week.
The heated saltwater pool opened later than usual this year, welcoming its first swimmers on June 17 following seasonal maintenance and final inspections. The facility is more than 50 years old and considered to be approaching the end of its useful life, making annual maintenance and occasional repairs increasingly necessary.
At 137 metres, Kits Pool is nearly three times the length of a standard Olympic pool and offers panoramic views of English Bay, the North Shore mountains and downtown Vancouver.
Reservations can be made online, although a portion of each session’s capacity is reserved for drop-in visitors.
Complete hours, admission information and reservation details are available on the City of Vancouver’s Kitsilano Pool page.
