There Goes Their There

Kitsilano is losing one of its most recognizable West 4th Avenue cafés.

Their There has announced that it will close in September after eight years in the neighbourhood. The popular café and brunch spot shared the news on Instagram, thanking customers for their support over the years.

Located at 2042 West 4th Avenue, Their There has been a familiar stop for coffee, pastries, breakfast sandwiches, doughnuts and brunch since opening in 2018. The concept was launched by the team behind AnnaLena, taking over the former Mission restaurant space and bringing a more casual, playful dining option to the heart of Kitsilano.

When it opened, Their There was positioned as a bakery and coffee shop with a laidback atmosphere, a polished food program and design touches that set it apart from a typical neighbourhood café. Over time, it became known for its creative baked goods, fried chicken sandwiches, brunch dishes and steady stream of regulars.

In 2023, the business relaunched as an all-day breakfast and brunch restaurant, expanding its full-service dining program while continuing to offer coffee, pastries and takeout items at the counter. The café was also connected to Hundy, the burger concept that began by operating out of Their There before eventually moving into its own permanent location.

The upcoming closure marks another notable change for West 4th Avenue, a street that has seen plenty of restaurant and retail turnover in recent years but remains one of Vancouver’s busiest neighbourhood corridors.

Their There has not yet announced its final day of service, only that the café will close sometime in September. Until then, regulars still have a few months to visit, say goodbye and enjoy one more coffee, brunch or doughnut on West 4th.
