Neighbourhood gastropub The Ellis has announced it will close its doors at 2204 York Avenue, ending an eight-year run in one of Kitsilano’s most storied restaurant spaces.
The Ellis opened in 2017, taking over the former home of the legendary Sunset Grill, and quickly became a favourite for locals looking for elevated pub food, cozy booths, and a laid-back West Coast vibe.
“We’ve loved every minute of it, but it’s time to say farewell,” the team shared on Instagram. “Thank you dearly to our community for your support. We’re going to miss the heck out of all of you.”
Kitsilano residents still have time for one last visit. The Ellis will pour its final pints this Saturday, closing out its final service with 25% off food and drinks.
As the neighbourhood’s dining scene continues to evolve, locals will be watching to see what takes over the well-loved York Avenue space in 2026.
