Kitsilano residents will have a new way to celebrate the holiday season this year as Vanier Park transforms into a seaside winter festival on Sunday, December 7th. The first-ever Winter Market at Vanier Park will bring together local artisans, cultural attractions, and festive entertainment for a full day of community cheer.
The event is a partnership between the Vancouver Maritime Museum, Museum of Vancouver, H.R. MacMillan Space Centre, and Bard on the Beach, turning one of Vancouver’s most scenic waterfront spaces into a lively holiday hub. Visitors can browse a curated selection of handmade goods from local makers, enjoy seasonal food and drinks, and take in family-friendly performances throughout the afternoon.
In a rare treat, all three Vanier Park cultural institutions will be open by donation for the entire day, offering pay-what-you-can access for anyone looking to explore maritime history, local culture, or the cosmos.
Bard on the Beach will add a theatrical twist with a festive costume corner, complete with photo opportunities for families, friends, and anyone looking to capture a holiday-themed snapshot.
Running from 11:00 am to 5:00 pm, the Winter Market aims to create a warm, welcoming experience — whether visitors are searching for the perfect handmade gift or simply hoping to enjoy the seasonal atmosphere by the water.
With artisan vendors, cultural experiences, and festive touches throughout the park, organizers hope the event will become a new Kitsilano holiday tradition. Mark your calendar, bundle up, and join in the winter magic at Vanier Park.
