Good news for swimmers — Kitsilano Pool will stay open longer this year thanks to the warm, sunny weather. The Vancouver Board of Parks and Recreation announced that the pool’s season, originally set to close on Labour Day, will now run until Sunday, September 7.

The iconic saltwater pool has welcomed thousands of residents and visitors this summer. The Park Board says it has made the necessary staffing and operational adjustments to keep the facility open an extra week.

During the extension, pool hours will be:

  • 7:00 a.m. to 10:30 a.m.
  • 11:00 a.m. to 2:30 p.m.
  • 3:00 p.m. to 7:00 p.m.

While Kitsilano Pool gets a bonus week, Vancouver’s other outdoor pools — Second Beach, New Brighton, and Maple Grove — will still close as scheduled on September 2.

Officials note that September and October are crucial months for maintenance and decommissioning work at outdoor pools, ensuring they’re ready to withstand the wet, cold fall and winter ahead.
