History lovers and curious locals alike will have the rare opportunity to peek inside some of Vancouver’s most storied properties as Heritage Discovery Day returns on Saturday, June 7, with this year’s event shining a spotlight on Kitsilano.
Hosted by the Vancouver Heritage Foundation, the annual fundraiser invites participants to explore nine unique heritage sites, including a 1912 Craftsman home, a 1908 Early Vernacular Style residence, and the oldest non-Indigenous building still standing in Vancouver—a beloved community landmark in Kits.
Running from 10am to 5pm, the self-guided tour lets attendees choose their own route through the architectural and cultural tapestry that has helped define Kitsilano over the decades. At each stop, volunteers and guidebooks will offer rich historical context, architectural details, and stories that connect the past to the present.
In addition to private homes, participants will get to explore lesser-known places and community spaces, while also engaging with local businesses and organizations helping to shape the neighbourhood’s evolving identity.
Whether by bike, on foot, or via transit, Heritage Discovery Day promises a thoughtful and accessible experience. While many sites are walkable, parking details and transit tips will be shared with ticket holders. Please note that parking costs are the responsibility of attendees.
Tickets are $50 (or $40 for those aged 40+), with proceeds supporting the Vancouver Heritage Foundation’s ongoing work to preserve and celebrate the city’s rich architectural and cultural heritage.
