Bard on the Beach is about to celebrate a major milestone, as it prepares to welcome the two-millionth person to attend the Festival since its founding.

Sometime between August 23 and August 28, someone will enter the Festival grounds and be counted as the two-millionth patron. And Bard is ready to roll out the red carpet when the time arrives.

The two-millionth patron will win a Milestone prize package that includes Season ticket packs for Bard’s 34th Season in 2023, Bard Boutique merchandise, and more.

“When we started the Festival in 1990, we had high hopes for its future. But we couldn’t have imagined how successful the idea would become, and that two million people would connect with us in the thirty-two years since then,” commented Bard Founding Artistic Director Christopher Gaze.

Gaze goes on to say: “Our return to Sen?ákw/Vanier Park after two dark summers has been complicated in many ways and it has significantly challenged our teams and operations. It’s exciting and heartwarming to have this good news to celebrate, and also to take the opportunity to thank the community at large, and all those who have brought Bard to this moment!”

The 2022 Festival: The Festival continues to September 24th, with productions of A Midsummer Night’s Dream, and Romeo and Juliet currently on stage. Upcoming special events include a Bard Family Day/Relaxed Performance on Sunday August 14th at 2pm, and the annual Opera & Arias concerts, featuring the UBC Opera chorus and members of the Vancouver Opera Orchestra, on September 12 and 13.

Ticket prices include all fees & taxes and start at $27 and can be found online.
