The holiday season with all its candy cane hot chocolate was just a warm up for CityFood Magazine’s 4th Annual Hot Chocolate Festival. The festival started January 18 and conveniently runs until February 14 ( Valentine’s Day, in case you forgot).

This awesome festival features over 60 different drinking chocolates with ingredients ranging from smoked caramel to parmesan (yes, the cheese!). And with over 20 different cafes, patisseries and chocolateries participating all over the city, you can walk and ‘drink’ your way to chocolatey heaven! The thoughtful people at CityFood magazine put together a walking map of all the chocolate drinking holes.

If you need an excuse to try at least a few different drinking chocolates, you will be happy to know that it is also a fundraiser. This year the proceeds go to the Downtown Eastside women’s job training program of the Portland Hotel Society and East Van Roasters.

Some Kitsilano cafes that I will be sure to visit for a taste of their chocolatey goodness will be: Chocolate Arts, Cocoa Nymph, Beaucoup Bakery and Thomas Haas. Enjoy your hot chocolates!
