Twitter Thursday at Fuel

Below is a guest post by Andrea, writer of The Fancy, and first winner of Fuel Restaurant’s Twitter Thursday.

A few weeks ago I got an excited email from one of my foodie friends about ‘Fried Chicken Fridays’ at Fuel on 4th Avenue in Kits. We made a reservation and lunched there on what was undoubtedly the best fried chicken I had ever had in my life. Wanting to keep up with future news and events with them, I signed up for the restaurant’s feed on Twitter.

Fast-forward to last Thursday. As I was on my way home on the bus, checking my twitter feed on my phone, I saw this:

Dinner for 2 on us! Make a reservation for TONIGHT & mention twitter! The winners will be revealed upon arrival & receive 3 courses.

I excitedly phoned my husband, canceled our own ‘Taco Thursday’ feast he was preparing, and got him to phone Fuel. We were the first to call, and they told us we had won! It would be a 3-course meal, chosen by the chef, and all we had to do was get ourselves down there that night.

After asking about any food allergies or dislikes, they selected different dishes for each of us so we would have the chance to try as many things as possible. It started off with an amuse bouche of rare albacore tuna (perfection!) followed by a soup course of the Cauliflower Soup and the Traditional Brodo. Then they served us the Seared Qualicum Bay Scallops (cooked perfectly) and Polderside Farms Redbro Organic Chicken (which lives up to all the hype) for main courses. Completely stuffed at that point, we still managed to find room for the incredible dessert when it arrived: Manjari Chocolate Terrine and Buckwheat Honey Creme Brulee.

It was a great meal, and along with the pleasing atmosphere and thoughtful service it was a great thing to ‘win’ indeed.

Thank you Fuel. Thank you Twitter.
