Opening day for Kitsilano Pool marks the unofficial start of summer in Kits.

According to the City of Vancouver’s public pool schedules, opening day for Kitsilano Pool is Saturday May 20th with public swimming from 9:00am to 8:30pm.

Kitsilano Pool is Vancouver’s only heated saltwater swimming pool. The outdoor summer pool is 137 metres long (almost three times longer than an Olympic pool) and has 3 slides. Because it’s so close to Kits beach, one of the top 5 beaches in Vancouver, it appears to be a turquoise extension of the ocean.

It’s also particularly special because of the breathtaking views of the ocean, the mountains, Kits Beach, and the skyline of Vancouver’s West End, shimmering across English Bay.

Once you’ve tired of sunbathing and splashing, you can stroll along the beach or make your way up to the cafés and shops of West 4th and surrounding side streets. Even though Kits Pool has a cafe, it’s worth holding out for an ice cream cone from Rain or Shine.
