Bard on the Beach is heading into the final week of its 2026 season, giving Vancouver audiences one last opportunity to catch four productions beneath the tents at Sen̓áḵw/Vanier Park.
The festival’s 37th season concludes on Saturday, September 19, following a summer of comedy, tragedy and unconventional interpretations of classic works.
On the BMO Mainstage, The Merry Wives of Windsor transforms Shakespeare’s comedy into a music-filled story set in a soccer-obsessed suburb. It plays alongside Macbeth, offering a darker journey through ambition, violence and betrayal.
The Douglas Campbell Theatre has hosted Antigone, Kate Besworth’s contemporary adaptation of the Greek tragedy, and Goblin:Oedipus, an irreverent retelling created by Rebecca Northan and Bruce Horak with Ellis Lalonde.
Performances continue throughout the week, with the season closing September 19 with afternoon and evening presentations of The Merry Wives of Windsor and Goblin:Oedipus.
The festival has been a fixture at Vanier Park since 1990, pairing live theatre with views of English Bay, the downtown skyline and the North Shore mountains.
Regular tickets start at $30, with discounted pricing available for audience members under 35 and youth between six and 18 years old.
