Kitsilano is getting a new destination for submarine sandwiches, with Jersey Mike’s Subs preparing to open its first Vancouver location on West 4th Avenue.
The American sandwich chain is moving into 1864 West 4th Avenue, the former home of Purebread. The address has been added to Jersey Mike’s Canadian website, where it is listed as “scheduled to open soon.”
While an exact opening date has not been announced, local reports suggest the Kitsilano restaurant is targeting an October 2026 debut.
Founded at the Jersey Shore in 1956, Jersey Mike’s is known for cold subs prepared with meats and cheeses sliced to order, along with freshly grilled cheesesteaks. Its sandwiches are served on bread baked in-store and can be ordered “Mike’s Way” with onions, lettuce, tomatoes, red wine vinegar, olive oil and spices.
The upcoming restaurant is part of an ambitious Canadian expansion led by Redberry Restaurants, the operator behind hundreds of Burger King and Taco Bell locations across the country.
The arrival adds another quick-service option to West 4th Avenue’s busy restaurant scene and fills a familiar storefront following the departure of Purebread.
