Bard on the Beach Shakespeare Festival will celebrate Vancouver’s 2SLGBTQIA+ community with its annual Pride Night in Vanier Park on Friday, July 31.
Doors open at 5 p.m., when the Bard Village will come alive with a Pride-themed photo booth, a Queer Artisan Market and a pre-show drag performance by What the Frock Productions.
Guests can then choose between two productions beginning at 6 p.m.: The Merry Wives of Windsor or Goblin:Oedipus.
The Queer Artisan Market will showcase handcrafted goods from local 2SLGBTQIA+ makers and entrepreneurs. It will remain open before the performances and during intermission.
“Bard has always been about bringing people together through the joy of storytelling, and Pride Night is a beautiful extension of that tradition,” said founding artistic director Christopher Gaze.
The celebration combines live theatre, local creativity and community in one of Vancouver’s most scenic outdoor settings.
