Kits Pool Set To Open June 17 For Summer Season

Kitsilano’s most iconic summer swim spot is nearly ready to welcome swimmers back.

Kitsilano Pool is scheduled to open for the season on Wednesday, June 17, pending a final inspection. The outdoor saltwater pool is expected to operate daily once open.

According to the City of Vancouver, length swimming will run from 7am to 9am. Public swimming will be offered in three daily blocks: 9:30am to 12:30pm, 1pm to 4pm, and 4:30pm to 8:30pm.

The opening comes after seasonal maintenance and preparation work at the aging oceanside facility. Earlier this spring, the City said crews were assessing the pool’s condition, completing necessary repairs to its pipes and basin, then filling, treating, and heating the water ahead of the required health inspection.

For Kitsilano residents, the return of the pool marks one of the clearest signs that summer has arrived in the neighbourhood.

Kits Pool is Vancouver’s only saltwater swimming pool and remains one of the city’s most recognizable outdoor recreation destinations, drawing lap swimmers, families, beachgoers, and visitors throughout the summer.

Swimmers are encouraged to reserve online in advance, as admission can depend on demand. The City has said a portion of spaces will continue to be available for drop-in visits, but entry is not guaranteed when sessions are full.
