Kitsilano’s iconic Romer’s Burger Bar may have flipped its last patty, but a new flavour is on the way.

The prime West 4th Avenue space at 1873—once home to the long-running burger joint—is being transformed into an upscale Italian restaurant from Fred’s, known for its wood-fired pizzas and handmade pastas.

The new Kitsilano location will be the third for Fred’s, joining its West Vancouver and Sechelt outposts. The restaurant’s team is reimagining the former burger bar into a contemporary Italian dining destination with warm design, a refined wine program, and a mix of casual and elevated dining experiences.

While an exact opening date hasn’t been confirmed, Fred’s is expected to open its doors in late October.

For a neighbourhood that blends laid-back charm with a thriving food scene, Fred’s feels like a natural fit. Its mix of approachable Italian classics and modern style should make it a welcome addition to West 4th’s growing lineup of destination dining spots.
