The City of Vancouver and Vancouver Board of Parks and Recreation are calling on residents to help shape the future of Kits Pool, one of the city’s most iconic summer destinations.

After decades of service and damage from recent storms, the beloved seaside pool has reached the end of its service life. In response, City Council has directed staff to undertake a feasibility study that will explore options for replacing the pool while addressing climate resilience, honouring the site’s cultural significance, and improving accessibility.

“This is an important opportunity to imagine a pool that not only reflects the needs of our community today, but is built to last for future generations,” the City said in a public statement.

Residents are invited to participate in the consultation process through an online survey available from June 24 to July 14 at ShapeYourCity.ca/Kits-Pool-Replacement. In-person engagement events will also be held at Kitsilano Beach Park on:

  • Saturday, June 28 from 2 to 5 p.m.
  • Friday, July 4 from 4 to 7 p.m.
  • Sunday, July 6 from noon to 3 p.m.

Feedback gathered will help inform future plans for the pool, which will be considered as part of the City’s 2027–2030 Capital Plan. Final decisions on funding will reflect broader city-wide priorities, climate adaptation strategies, and the City’s ongoing commitment to reconciliation with local Nations.

Kitsilano Pool, with its stunning oceanfront views and saltwater lanes, has long been a landmark of Vancouver’s West Side. Its future now rests, in part, with the voices of those who’ve cherished it most.
