The Museum of Vancouver (MOV) will be reopening its doors to the public on June 11, 2020.

Following the guiding principles of health and safety procedures outlined in Phase II of BC’s Go-forward strategy, MOV has implemented new measures to ensure the safety of its visitors and staff.

The museum’s hours of operation have been modified to provide the safest visitor experience. The new hours of operation are Thursday to Sunday: 10am to 4pm.

Admission tickets will only be available online where visitors will be required to select a specific entrance time in order to adhere to gathering limits. Members of MOV will also be required to reserve an entrance time online, prior to their visit.

Entrance times to the museum will be set to every 15 minutes starting at 10am, with a final timeslot option at 3:30pm. The museum will also allow a maximum of 10 guests per entrance time.

“The MOV team has worked very hard to meet the COVID-19 health protocols and we are confident that the museum will be able to offer a safe and secure cultural experience for our visitors,” says Mauro Vescera, MOV CEO, “We are excited to be reopening and invite the community to come visit and rediscover Vancouver’s history.”

MOV is also taking a variety of safety measures to ensure visitors are keeping a minimum 2-metre distance from each other. These measures include: having markers on the ground in the lobby to show 2-metre spacing at the queue, the creation and placement of additional signage within the museum to remind visitors to keep a 2-metre distance from each other, disabling or removing select interactive and high-touch aspects of the exhibitions, and having hand-sanitizer stations in each wing of the building.

MOV is reopening alongside the Vancouver Maritime Museum, which will also be reopening on the same day.
